Brian, I have used 10W30 motor oil in my Dore Westbury mill gearbox for ten years or more. My gearbox is not sealed and excess oil percolates down the quill for total loss system. If the Westbury mill that you're looking at is an Induma (made in Milan, Italy) it should be a good machine. I have the Induma (Westbury) 1-S vertical knee mill and it is a rock solid awesome machine. I'm really glad I ended up with it as opposed to a BP. A bit of studding makes a perfect drawbar. Using these collets means you get more working height and rigidity than using a collet chuck. Maximum size though is 1/2 inch, 12 or 13 mm. Both metric and imperial sizes are available. You only need a few sizes to suit standard cutter shanks.

I have seen a couple of options to get round this in model engineer, also the drawbar is 5/16 for the mt2 socket. This means that you have to either make a draw bar out of 3/8 bar turned down to 5/16 ...

Chaps Please be aware that this group is for the English kit built machines which are totallly unrelated to the one you are speaking of. I had the privledge of knowing the Arnold Throp who redesigned the Edgar Westbury designed Westbury light vertical miller to make it the Mk1 Dore Westbury (Arnold lived in Dore, a suburb of Sheffield).
